Attendance at inter airport China 2012, which took place from 26 to 28 September at Beijing’s China International Exhibition Centre, totalled more than 3,500 industry professionals. Some 2,854 visitors attended the show as buyers and decision makers – a 41% increase compared to the previous event in 2010. And while the large majority were from China, there were a large number of important overseas visitors, including representatives from 35 countries and regions.
Also attending were 150 high-ranking VIPs responsible for policy-making and management of China’s civil aviation sector, including Mr Xia Xinghua, Vice Minister of Civil Aviation Administration of China.
This year’s highly successful event also saw both exhibitor numbers and stand space increase by over 50%, underlining the increasing global profile of the inter airport brand. In all, 106 exhibitors from 18 countries took part, compared to 88 at the previous Beijing exhibition in 2010.
A significant trend was the continued increased presence by Chinese companies. Domestic firms continued accounted for more than 65% of the floor space at the show with more large and purpose-built stands. However, international participation was also strong, including impressive national pavilions hosting leading suppliers from Germany (coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology) and France (UBI France).
A key innovation at this year’s exhibition was provision of the largest-ever outdoor display area, a development welcomed by exhibitors and visitors. Exhibitors of GSE equipment and vehicles had the opportunity to show outdoor products in this ‘natural environment’ – an outdoor space adjacent to the exhibition hall. It is expected that this area will grow significantly at the next edition of the show in 2014.
Feedback from many exhibitors was very positive. ITW Airport Ground Equipment Beijing and Shanghai Hangfu said: “A great show – we are very satisfied”. Vacalex offered its view of the event: “This is a professional and niche exhibition and it can attract a lot of key customers from China and also other countries in Asia.”
Further contributing to the success of the event was the now familiar ‘Meet the Buyers’ programme, which took place during all three days of the show. These sessions provided opportunities for inter airport China participants to hear presentations by senior Chinese government and airport officials outlining details of future investment projects.
Organisations contributing to the programme included China Civil Aviation Technology and Equipment Co Ltd, Tianjing Binhan International Airport, and the Inner Mongolia Civil Aviation Airport Group as well as the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The ‘Meet the Buyers’ programme was widely welcomed by firms attending the event. Crisplant commented: “The seminars were very interesting – please continue to organise them.”
This was the fifth successful inter airport China show organised by Mack Brooks Exhibitions together with its partners in China, China Aviation Supplies Holding Co and China Civil Aviation Technology & Equipment Co Ltd (AVITEC). Planning has already begun for inter airport China 2014, dates for which will be announced soon.
